🎓 OMÜ Tourism Faculty and Bafra Tourism MYO Hold Joint Graduation Ceremony
The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Tourism and the Bafra Vocational School of Tourism (MYO) bid farewell to their students with a joint graduation ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The graduation ceremony, held in the Hanife Aşçı Conference Hall of the Faculty of Tourism, was attended by Samsun Deputy Governor Şevket Cinbir, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut, Samsun Regional Director of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications Ebubekir Ayranci, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Süleyman Demirtaş, Director of Bafra Tourism MYO Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Çilingir Ük, Director of Bafra MYO Prof. Dr. Ömer Çalışkan, academicians, public representatives, and the families of the graduating students.
The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by a video screening and opening speeches.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten: "You Will Contribute to Society"
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten stated: “Today, we are celebrating not just a graduation, but also the result of your efforts, persistence, and belief. You are now individuals who will step into professional life and transform what you have learned into production and contribution to society. Remember that education is a lifelong journey. Always continue to develop yourselves, learn, and produce. Our country needs hard-working and responsible young people like you. I congratulate all graduating students and wish them clear paths and good fortune.”
Dean Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut: "Education in Line with Modern Requirements"
In his address, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut detailed educational updates:
“As the Faculty of Tourism, we are striving to provide education and training in line with the requirements of the modern age. As of this year, our students will receive theoretical education for the first three years and spend their fourth year working in the sector.”
“We are transforming our students from passive learners who listen to lectures via slides into active individuals who are the focal point of the learning process and learn how to learn.”
He concluded with advice on building a future based on kindness, trust, and mutual understanding, adding, "Each of you is a Turkish flag. None of you should allow that flag to be lowered or soiled. I wish you outstanding and healthy success on the path you will take in this direction."
Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Çilingir Ük: "You Will Do Very Beneficial Work"
Director of Bafra Tourism MYO Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Çilingir Ük said: “Your efforts and persistence have finally borne fruit today. You managed to adapt, overcome obstacles, and reach the finish line... Today, you are graduating successfully, having been trained by expert instructors in their fields... I am confident that you will do very beneficial work for both the sector and our country, never forgetting the importance of tourism for the future of this nation throughout your lives.”
Ceremony Conclusion
Following the speeches, Elif Öztürk, the top student of the Vocational School, and Hasan Can Sayar, the top student of the Faculty, nailed their name plaques onto the graduation log. After the presentation of awards to the honor students, the graduating students took to the stage to receive their symbolic diplomas. The ceremony concluded as the students took the graduation oath and threw their caps into the air.
