Accreditation: It is an evaluation and external quality assurance process, conducted by the Council of Higher Education (Yükseköğretim Kurulu Başkanlığı), which measures whether a higher education program and institution meets the predetermined academic and field-specific standards in a certain area.

Accreditation in higher education is a tool for academic quality, transparency, and accountability.

The objectives of the accreditation system are:

To facilitate and accelerate the mutual recognition process between higher education institutions, and

To aid in the comparability of diplomas and titles.
