Disabled Student Unit
To facilitate the academic lives of our students with disabilities, to ensure that the necessary academic environment is prepared, and to support their full participation in educational processes, the “Ondokuz Mayıs University Disabled Student Unit” has been established. The office of the unit is located in the OMU Life Center.
The main duties of the unit include:
• Identifying students with disabilities who have been admitted to our university’s programs during registration,
• Determining the needs of students with disabilities enrolled at our university regarding education, training, scholarships, administrative procedures, physical accessibility, accommodation, social life, and similar areas, and proposing solutions and taking necessary measures in coordination with other university units or department offices to ensure these needs are met,
• Working on the organization of academic programs in a manner that does not hinder the academic, physical, or social lives of students with disabilities; providing assistive devices, preparing special course materials, and arranging accessible learning, research, and accommodation environments,
• Meeting exam-related needs of students with disabilities—such as extra time, appropriate location, materials, readers, and markers—and taking necessary measures and making arrangements according to the nature of the disability,
• Ensuring that the university campus, as well as the buildings and open areas within the campus, are accessible for students with disabilities.
