AFAD continues its efforts to increase disaster awareness. In this context, “Disaster Awareness Training” was organized on May 5, 2026, at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Tourism. During the training, the importance of being prepared for disasters was emphasized, and it was stated that recognizing risks in advance and taking necessary precautions play a vital role. Officials highlighted that while earthquakes are a natural reality, loss of life and damage can be minimized through proper measures.
The program also addressed potential communication problems after an earthquake and provided participants with information on how to overcome these issues. The importance of assembly points, the use of information cards in post-disaster communication, and individual preparedness processes were among the topics covered. The significance of a disaster and emergency kit was highlighted, and the essential items that should be included in the kit were explained in detail.
Students and participants showed great interest in the program. The training concluded with a question-and-answer session followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the participants.
