Addiction Prevention and Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar (October 27, 2025)

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Vocational School of Tourism jointly organized two significant social responsibility events. The “Addiction Prevention and Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar” drew great interest with the participation of students and academicians.

Addiction Prevention and Cybersecurity Seminar

The seminar, held at the Faculty of Tourism Conference Hall, was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of the Addiction Prevention Application and Research Center and the Samsun Provincial Police Department Anti-Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate.

During the awareness training, which targeted first-year students of the Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Vocational School of Tourism, comprehensive information was shared on topics such as: what a narcotic substance is, the process of addiction initiation, the physical, psychological, and social effects of substance use, methods for combating drug addiction, and the legal consequences of drug use. Furthermore, the Anti-Narcotics Application (UYUMA), developed to prevent drug use and trafficking, was introduced to the students.

Following the Addiction Prevention Seminar, a talk was held on “Safe Use of the Internet and Cyber Incidents” by the Samsun Provincial Gendarmerie Command Cyber Crime Unit Directorate. During the talk, students were informed about cyberbullying, phishing, safe social media use, precautions to be taken during online shopping, information security, protection of personal data, information pollution in digital environments, and safe internet use. Additionally, the legal consequences of illegal betting, fraud, blackmail, threats, and other cybercrimes were explained.

The event concluded after answering questions from the students.
