Ondokuz Mayıs University's (OMU) Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Vocational School of Tourism have signed a cooperation protocol with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality aimed at strengthening students' vocational training and internship processes.
Under the protocol, which entered into force on May 11, 2026 and will remain valid for 5 years, students enrolled at the Faculty of Tourism and Bafra Vocational School of Tourism will receive workplace training and complete their internships at Samsun Metropolitan Municipality for one semester within the academic calendar.
The protocol aims to help students gain professional experience, develop into a qualified workforce, and strengthen cooperation between the university and the institution. Students' insurance premiums will be covered by the university, while Occupational Health and Safety training prior to workplace training will be provided by the Faculty and the Vocational School. In accordance with Law No. 3308 on Vocational Education, students will be paid a certain percentage of the minimum wage.
The student quota to be included in the program each year will be determined by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality based on budgetary resources and will be communicated to the relevant academic units no later than August.
The protocol was signed by Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut, Dean of the OMU Faculty of Tourism; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Çilingir Ük, Director of Bafra Vocational School of Tourism; and Ramazan Sinekoğlu, Head of the Department of Human Resources and Training at Samsun Metropolitan Municipality.
